Question: Do you prefer the choke chain or your adjustable leader lead? I noticed in your workshop videos most of the dogs we're using the choke chain.
Answer: Depends on several things. I use a flat collar on most pups until they are physically bigger. I usually don't need the chain with my pups because I make a point of forming and shaping the understanding of what the heel position is early on. I think the chain is a good tool (when used properly like all slip designs) in situations where the dogs are bigger and more physically challenging. The benefit of a chain is that it adds an audible factor and it can provide a quick crisp sharp correction when used properly. You will notice that those using them in workshops are typically on the bigger size and usually quite "green" when it comes to understanding and being able to heel well. The adjustable leader collar works similar to the chain but has advantages that make it easier to maintain control when off lead and also I transitioning from on lead to off lead heel. I hope that helps, let me know if I can help in any other way. Thanks, Jeremy
